At 11:20 pm Sunday night, the Lawrence County Dispatch received a  report from a truck driver reporting a large oil spill on Hwy 25 at the  Lawrence/Independence County line.
The Saffell Volunteer Fire Department, Lawrence County Deputies and  Office of Emergency Services were notified and all responded to the scene.  Saffell Firefighters reported once on scene a large amount of oil on the highway  stretching approximately 75 yards down the highway.
According to firemen on scene, the oil caused a traffic hazard. The  source of the spill was not determined, a sand truck from the Arkansas Highway  Department was requested to assist with the clean up of the oil.
There were no injuries reported in the  incident.
