Well friends, neighbors, and readers it’s been a while since my last editorial here on Imboden Live. I hope the summer finds all of you doing well.

As small town (dare I say) journalists of an online newspaper we are always looking for interesting stories and local events that we think our readers will enjoy. We cover the Lawrence County Fair each year, Celebration in the Park, and many other positive community articles.  We’ve expanded to meet the demands  of our readers with breaking news stories, reporting arrests, wrecks, fires, and more.   Sometimes our job hasn’t always been an easy one. I’ve learned to live on less sleep, more coffee, frequent phone calls, and to develop a tougher skin when it comes to some of the negatives that come along with  covering stories that often aren’t that flattering for those involved.  I’ve also learned to speak up more about issues that concern me as a citizen which is something I believe we all should do.

In a big city, the press is insulated from those individuals who don’t like their loved ones arrest posted online or what they believe is negative article . In small communities, it’s often up close and personal.  We can’t shy away from reporting basic news in fear of offending  those close to the story. That would be the quickest way to ruin our credibility .
When Imboden Live first began I typed out whatever I could scrounge from local flyers, word of mouth, and whatever else flew into my head that I thought our readers might care about.  Imboden Live was updated with news when a story was found and we still operate that way today but with many more updates and frequent user submitted content by readers, fire departments, and law enforcement. We’ve evolved and will continue to implement new ideas and opinions into Imboden Live. Accurate information and breaking news articles  are brought to you each week to the best of our abilities.  We have grown from a few hundred readers a day to a few thousand a day and our readers reach beyond our hometown of Imboden.

We are now approaching the 3 year mark of bringing Imboden Live to all of you. I would like to re-post our Imboden Live Q & A  of most asked questions  and and our Comment FAQ. I would  also encourage everyone to read our Terms of Use.  All can be found under “About Us” in the top bar of our cover page. User submitted content and questions can always be sent to me at admin@imbodenlive.com.

Imboden Live is and I hope will always be a free publication. We are lucky enough to have a number of local business advertisers and sponsors who make that possible. Please visit and support our local businesses so our community can continue to grow and prosper.

Is Imbodenlive.com FREE?
YES. You can view all of our articles, leave comments, enjoy our videos, comics, games, and more all free of charge. You can even submit articles and photo’s that you think might interest our reader’s.
If you are interested in posting a classified ad some of those are free as well but we do charge for a few of the categories in the classifieds (please read that page for more info) We also charge for any business/political advertisements but our prices are VERY reasonable so interested businesses/ politicians, etc. please inquire and we can quote you a price.

Is Imboden Live one of those generic ” town news or gossip sites” run by a nameless, faceless company?
NO. Imbodenlive.com is proud to be a hometown family owned and operated business. 90% of the articles contained here are written by us and we take most of the photo’s. We gather information ourselves or it is submitted by local reader’s, schools, local law enforcement, fire departments, etc.. Delivering you accurate, up to date information is very important to us. We try to remain “drama free” around here but we do encourage your comments, opinions, and feedback.

Hey I don’t like one of your articles! Will you remove it?
No. In general we will not deliberately remove information published on our website. We do not remove or “unpublish” articles per request. The content we publish online is part of the public record, just the same as are printed newspapers.

Why didn’t you post an obit, a business opening, or an event I heard about, etc..? Some content within Imboden Live is only published if submitted by our readers , businesses, community, etc…. We call this user submitted content. We welcome our readers to submit events, photo’s, etc… to be published in upcoming articles . Businesses who would like to advertise on Imboden Live are encouraged to contact us about pricing.

I am looking for an old article you posted. Where is it??
Just use our search box to look up by a keyword, use our archives (at the bottom of the front page) to search by month, or you can try a categories search located in the drop down box right above the archives.

Can I leave comments on articles?
Sure! We encourage everyone to comment on as many articles as you like and leave feedback. We do ask that you read our Comment FAQ before you submit comments.

and now our fun, informative, slightly sarcastic comment faq………

Comment FAQ

Can I leave a comment about an article I read at Imboden Live? Sure we love comments! Under almost every article there is a space for you to add your comment. (please remain on topic)

Do I have to fill in my real full name? If you would like to use a nickname or your first name only go ahead but we do require your REAL email address (don’t worry it won’t be posted online) DO NOT post pretending to be someone else(using their id). If we think it’s shady we won’t post your comment and you might be banned. or publicly outed:) maybe fed to the wolves etc..

Is Imbodenlive.com moderated?   Yes!

What does that mean? It means we read your comments and submitted material before we will post them onto the website.

Why would you do that?  Because some people do not display very nice manners when they are allowed to post anonymously onto a website and we like manners.

So if I disagree with you, will you delete my comment? No, but if you leave a rude comment we will.

What sort of comments won’t you post? Imboden Live is NOT interested in publishing libelous personal attacks, threats, or unsubstantiated claims against places of business. We reserve the right to edit or reject any subject material we see fit.

Can I add a link into my comment? No but you can add it into the form if you like. But NO SPAM. We think it’s icky.

Will you delete an old comment I made?  Maybe if you email us with a really good reason but most of the time no.

Will you delete a comment or article I don’t like because it doesn’t agree with my personal opinions? Hmmmmmmmmm No!  We read every message and article before it’s posted. We don’t agree or endorse every statement made here by our reader’s but we don’t feel a need to delete a comment for that reason solely. As for articles we work closely with local law enforcement, fire departments, etc.. to provide you with accurate, timely information. We have no legal obligation to delete or remove posts, comments, etc..

My wonderful comment never showed up! How come?   Well maybe it was a glitch in our system but it might have been deleted if it we found it to be offensive  or it was off topic.

Wait a minute, what about freedom of speech!   Freedom of speech is a top priority here. We believe everyone has the right to think and say whatever they want as long as it doesn’t deprive other’s of their rights.  By the same token we at Imboden Live have the right to have (or not have) anything we like on our website. That means if we don’t want to post your  comments here, we won’t .  If you want to post them on your own website go for it!
