Sheriff Dotson reported to the Lawrence County Quorum Court at it’s latest meeting the renewed inmate figures for the Lawrence County Jail.

Dotson stated that the inmate over-crowding at the jail was an “inherited” problem, one in which he has worked on since first taking office. The Lawrence County Jail has 42 beds but at times has housed as many as 65 inmates.

The Sheriff reported that all though Lawrence County has the most arrest in the Third Judicial District, his office has managed to reduce the number of inmates which is currently at just 33.
