Authorities report a man from Mountain Home, AR has been arrested after attempting to cash a stolen check at the First Security Bank in Gassville.

This investigation began after the U.S. Post Office in Mountain Home contacted law enforcement on the recovery of mail from six different parties.

One of the victims that had lost mail informed police that blank checks had been taken from his mail, and that someone attempted to use one of the stolen checks at the First Security Bank.

A suspect was identified as Dustin Sandoval, a 32-year-old Mountain Home resident. Sandoval was arrested at on February 8th; after admitting to the attempted theft of $3,000 by cashing the check, and to obtaining the checks from a pair who were arrested in a recent slew of mail theft incidents according to authorities.

Sandoval has 11 prior bookings in the Baxter County Detention Center.

Sandoval is charged with Parole Violation, Non-Payment of Fines, Forgery, and Felony Theft by Receiving.

Sandoval is currently being held on a $12,600 bond
