Authorities say a Jonesboro man was injured and another motorist was killed Friday evening in a crash in central Arkansas, with the Jonesboro man facing numerous felony charges as a result of the incident.

Authorities say the crash involved a stolen vehicle in Lonoke County.

The Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office had been investigating reports of the vehicle being in the possession of Clayton Piety, age 35, of Jonesboro who reportedly had felony warrants. Piety was believed to be at a house on Vice Lane in Cabot.

As deputies arrived, Piety fled in the vehicle described as a silver SUV running through a gate. Cabot police joined in the pursuit that went into a convenience store parking lot.
Several bystanders were nearly hit according to authorities as officers tried to stop Piety but he sped away on Hwy 367.

The vehicle was discovered crashed at Hwy 367 and Hwy 319 in Ward with Piety and another vehicle.

The Arkansas State Police fatal crash report said Kevin Goodwin, age 42, of Ward was killed in the Hwy 367/Hwy 319 crash.

According to the ASP preliminary fatality report, police say Piety crossed the centerline and struck a 2008 Toyota Scion, driven by Goodwin head on killing him.

Piety was taken to a Little Rock hospital for treatment of his injuries.
