Police say they are still conducting interviews concerning a man who burned to death on Tuesday night at Batesville residence.

Police said the Batesville Fire Department was called to the scene, and the police department was notified to assist.

Authorities found a male who had suffered extensive burns deceased at the scene.

Police say a domestic verbal confrontation was apparently going on at the time, reports state the 52-year-old wife had started burning marriage-related articles.

Police said the man apparently doused himself in gasoline that was being used as the fuel that set the fire.

The theory Police are working on is that the man may have gotten too close to the flames from the woman’s fire, causing the gasoline fumes and liquid ignited.

Authorities said the man’s identity has not yet be released as the investigation into his continues, and notifying next of kin.
