According to a press release from Chief Deputy Dammon McGilton, on the morning of June 24, 2021, the Stone County Sheriff’s Department was contacted by the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force in reference to possibly two fugitives being in Stone County. The United States Marshall’s Office called for assistance from locals and responded to the area. It was learned that the fugitive was Royce WOOD and Tiffany CASWELL out of Texas. Chief George Bethel and Lieutenant Jeremy Beaudin of the Mountain View Police Department responded to the area as well as the Arkansas Department of Corrections K-9 Unit and Arkansas Community Corrections Special Response Team.
WOOD, age 43, is accused of shooting a Rhome Police Officer in Texas on June 13, 2021. WOOD and CASWELL, age 32 was arrested at the Dogwood Motel in Mountain View at approximately 7:00 A.M. and are being charged with Felony gun and drug charges. Felony Charges are being filed by the Mountain View Police Department. They are both being held in the Stone County Jail and are wanted on felony warrants out of Texas. They are currently awaiting extradition back to Texas.
