Mary “Frances” Smith of Black Rock, Arkansas

March 4, 1947 – May 3, 2020

Black Rock- Mary “Frances” Smith, 73, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2020 at Randolph County Nursing Home in Pocahontas.  She was born March 4, 1947 to Carlos Howley and Vida Tate (Rodgers) in Walnut Ridge.  She married Ronnie Smith on May 25, 1965 in Black Rock.  Frances was retired from Black Rock School and was a lifetime member of Black Rock Church of Christ. 

She was preceded in death by her husband; granddaughter, Katie Kirby; grandparents, Delbert and Emma Tate; her parents; brother, George Wesley Rodgers

She is survived by a son, Kevin Smith of Greenbrier; two daughters, Tracy Smith (Eric) of Black Rock and Leslie Blankenship (Charles) of Smithville; brothers, C.W. “Buck” Howley of Fairfield Bay, Billy Rodgers of Rockford, Illinois, and Ralph Rodgers of Imboden; grandchildren, Carter and Abbey Vance, Hannah and Ethan Smith, and Cheryl Blankenship.

Graveside services will be Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at 2 p.m. in Oak Forest Cemetery.  Steve Norris will officiate.  Due to recent CDC guidelines, please maintain a 6 feet distance at the cemetery. All arrangements are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge.

Family will serve as pallbearers.
