On June 1st from 6:00-7:30, in the Black Rock community center (the old HS cafeteria) the Black Rock Sports Committee will be holding a meet and greet for Bernard Thompson, a retired NBA basketball player who is now living in the area.

Bernard Thompson  is a retired professional basketball player who was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round of the 1984 NBA draft. A 6’6″ forward-guard from Phoenix, Arizona and Fresno State University, Thompson played in 5 NBA seasons from 1984 to 1989. He played for the Blazers, Phoenix Suns and Houston Rockets. Thompson’s best year as a pro came during the 1985–86 season as a member of the Suns, appearing in 61 games and averaging 8.5 ppg.

Mr. Thompson will be holding several basketball camps at the Black Rock  gym in June. The Black Rock Sports Complex is excited to be partnering up with Mr. Thompson to help work with our kids in the area and their love of basketball.

Parents and children interested in attending the basketball camps or who have already signed up are welcome to attend the meet and greet.

Flyers are included with more information on the camps. The registration form is also included. Today is the last day to sign up.
