Hoxie Fire Chief Chris Ditto has informed us that the City if Hoxie has been placed under a burn ban until conditions improve. Chief Ditto says he expects the ban to stay in place until much needed rain comes to Lawrence County.
According to Chief Ditto just yesterday the Hoxie Fire Department was faced with a large grass fire that threatened many homes prompting the City of Hoxie and Hoxie Fire Department.
Chief Ditto expressed he expects the ban to stay in effect until the area gets enough rain to lift the ban but states the current extremely dry conditions and light winds contribute to dangerously dry conditions.
