The drama “‘night Mother” will debut June 24 at the Downtown Playhouse in Pocahontas. The play, written by Marsha Norman, will run weekends through July 23.

“’night Mother” stars two veterans of Pocahontas stage productions in Carol Belford-Lewallen and Emily Weisenbach. They play a mother and daughter, respectively, dealing with the daughter’s ill health and her plans to end her own life. Even with the intense subject matter, the drama is also interspersed with comic relief.

Kelly Grooms is director of the production, which is sponsored by Integrity First Bank and Service Abstract.

In addition to the play, spectators will be treated to their choice of dessert and beverage.

“’night Mother” runs June 24 and July 1,2,3,8, 9, 15, 16, 17, 22 and 23 at the Downtown Playhouse, located at 302 N. Marr in Pocahontas. Curtain time is 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday evenings and 2 p.m. on Sundays. For more information or to reserve tickets, call (870) 758-2282 or online at www.thedowntownplayhouse.com.
