The third grade students at Sloan Hendrix are now published authors. All three homerooms completed a book titled “When I Grow Up” in writing class with Mrs. Whitlow. Each student wrote a page and illustrated a page for the book. During this lesson the students learned about all the steps of the writing process and opinion writing. The books were then published by Student Treasure Publishing. When the books arrived the students celebrated their writing with a Donut Publishing Party. Parents were invited and the students shared their books and then were treated to donuts and drinks. Later the authors were available to autograph their books. We would like to give a big thank you to Mrs. Angie Shanks from Angie’s in town for making us some delicious donuts.
