POWHATAN HISTORIC STATE PARK TO CELEBRATE
“KIDS TO PARKS DAY” ON MAY 16

Powhatan Historic State Park will be joining local and national parks across America in the annual national celebration of “Kids to Parks Day” on Saturday, May 16. Organized by the National Park Trust, this event encourages families to connect kids with parks to experience the nature, environmental education, and history adventures found in the local, state, and national parks.
In addition to boating and fishing on the Black River, exploring the 1888 Courthouse, or experiencing a guided tour, Powhatan Historic State Park will offer two special programs. At 10:00 a.m., join a park interpreter to make your own rag doll. At 2:00 p.m., come for an afternoon of historic games. Both activities are free of charge.
Families can pledge to participate at the Kids to Parks website: http://www.KidsToParks.org. Those who pledge to participate will have a chance to win a grand prize, a Nikon COOLPIX L830 camera. When they visit an Arkansas state park on May 16, kids and parents are encouraged to tweet #ARStateParks or #KidsToParks and send in photos to Buddy@BuddyBison.org, where pictures will be shared online.
