Deputies from Lawrence County were called to assist the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office on a call reporting a suspect struck another person with a hammer on Tuesday night. The event took place on Sweeney Road on the Randolph/Lawrence County Line.
 
Randolph County Sheriff Gary Tribble and officers from Randolph County along with medical personnel and Lawrence County Deputies responded to the area just off County Line Road. The suspect in the assault had fled the scene and was believed to be hiding in the area.
 
Officers from both Lawrence and Randolph along with their K-9 dog tracked the suspect who was found by the K-9 hiding, the suspect was taken into custody and transported to the Randolph County Jail to await formal charges. Sheriff Gary Tribble has not released the suspect information, the victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

****The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office released the suspect name, Christopher Shipley of Walnut Ridge. Charges include Felony Battery, Domestic Assault, Fleeing, Criminal Mischief and Endangering the welfare of a minor.
