Sheriff Dotson Releases Photos And Updates On Clover Bend Stabbing

On December 04, 2012 the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office arrested Steven Liles (26) of Alicia on charges of 1st degree battery, obstructing governmental operations and escape. The arrest comes from a 911 call about a man being stabbed in the neck in the Clover Bend area. Deputies and an ambulance were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival the deputies found Jeremy Liles and Steven Liles both with cuts. Jeremy Liles had cuts to his neck and Steven Liles had cuts to his arms. The Liles are brothers. The Liles told deputies that they had been at their cabin and a guy in a white truck stopped and was trying to steal their propane bottle. They said they tried to get the guy to stop and he attacked them with a knife. Both men said the guy cut them and then fled in the white truck. Deputies found a white truck up the road and spoke with the people in the truck. The people told deputies that they had driven by and seen the brothers fighting in the front yard of the cabin just a short time before. Deputies spoke again with the brothers and Jeremy finally told deputies that he and his brother had gotten into a fight. Jeremy said that Steven had cut his neck and then went and punched out a window cutting his arms. They had made up the story about the guy in the white truck because they did not want their momma to know what had happened. Steven was placed under arrest and transported to the Lawrence County Jail to await a bond hearing. While at the jail, Steven took off running out the back door right into the deputies who had just arrested him. Steven was brought back into the jail and handcuffed to the chair while he was being booked.
