The Sloan-Hendrix High School band and choir program has seen rapid growth during the 2010 school year thus far. Band and choir teacher Allene Kirk expressed that the need for community support is great since the band and choir program jumped from last year having three students to the 17 students who are enrolled into the program now. Plus the addition of a sixth grade band with 30 students and the anticipation of even more students joining band and choir in upcoming years.
The Sloan-Hendrix Band and Choir will host a benefit fundraiser on Friday, October 1 at 6:00 pm in the Sloan-Hendrix Gym. All proceeds will go towards the purchase of band instruments and choir risers. The benefit will include food, live music, an auction, and games for children.
The band and choir are in great need of items for the auction. If you have any item, new or used, that you wish to donate, please contact Allene Kirk at allenekirk@gmail.com or by calling the school or dropping items off at school.
