After being on probation since the 07-08 school year for not teaching the 38 core courses required by the state, not having a professional development and having a teacher that was not in compliance with state licensing requirements the Arkansas Board of Education has voted to take over and split up the Twin Rivers School District in northeast Arkansas.

Board members voted unanimously Monday to split the district up and the board will take over the administration of the district. At the end of the 2009-2010 school year students will be sent to other nearby districts. The Twin Rivers District was formed in 2004 with the combining of the former Williford and Oak Ridge Central School Districts.
