Imbodenlive.com spoke with the Imboden Volunteer Fire Department’s Chief Chris Jones about the threat of weather that Imboden and it’s surrounding area are facing in the coming days. At the time of this article the forecast is for minimal amounts of ice but significant amounts of snowfall in the coming days.

Chief Jones wants residents to be prepared. Do your shopping early, stock up on anything you or your family may need to eat or drink. If you take medicines be sure you have enough to last you for a few days. If the temperatures drop as low as predicted leave your faucet dripping to ensure you pipes do not freeze. Check up on elderly friends and family regularly preferably by phone or cell phone. If you do not have to get out then don’t, stay indoors and do not risk being involved in a traffic accident. Also Chief Jones added to be sure and protect your pets as well with the cold and snow moving to the area.

Also in the event of a loss of power to our area, here’s a few reminders. If you have or use a generator only use in a well ventilated area. Do not store extra fuel in your house or garage due to fumes, store outside or in a well ventilated area. Only use approved heaters in your house. Do not leave candles burning in your home while you are sleeping or while unattended. If you lose power and have no heat, do not stay in your home, go to friends or family until the power is back on.

One other thing Chief Jones wanted to state was during this winter storm, only call 9-1-1 in case of an emergency. If our area gets what is predicted our dispatch center will be busy county-wide with calls.
