On April 9, 2024, The Sheriff’s Office responded to an address where a female subject was suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Upon arrival, Chief Deputy Bart Simpson and Detective Willie Baker began life-saving efforts by providing proper medical attention to the individual. The specific process of medical care these officers provided ultimately spared her life. The medical facility where the female was receiving treatment provided an update stating she was in critical but stable condition and expected, in time, recover from the incident. Due to the actions above and beyond the call of duty, both Chief Deputy Simpson and Detective Baker received the Sharp County Sheriff’s Office Life Saving Award.
