From former Strawberry Mayor Gregg Cooper in a post on social media today:
“As many of you know, I have taken a position with UACCB. With those responsibilities, I have stepped down as mayor of Strawberry. I just didn’t have time to devote to both positions. I’m much more comfortable as a teacher than a politician. Several have asked me about the process of choosing a mayor. That responsibility falls on the council. They can fill the position in two ways. A mayor can be appointed by a majority vote of the council. The appointed mayor can be any eligible citizen of the town of Strawberry. The other option is an election which can be costly. If the council so decides, they can call a special election. The council can also have the election in conjunction with the general election in November. I know that’s a lot, but the law is complex. Thanks!”

The next Strawberry City Council meeting is scheduled for March 28th at 6pm.
