Batesville Police Department reports a child fell into White River Friday afternoon and a man went after him, but never resurfaced according to authorities.
The Independence County Sheriff’s Office says a man who attempted to rescue a child that was drowning in the White River has died.
Authorities say a child fell into White River this afternoon and the man went after him, but the man never resurfaced.
The victims body was discovered an hour later, while another man was able to grab hold of the child.
Multiple departments responded in the search for the man.
Authorities said the first man and child were taken to White River Medical Center.
Authorities are not yet releasing the identity of the victim pending notification of family.
