On July 1, 2023 at approximately 9:35 PM, the Hardy Police Department and Hardy Fire Department as well as the Spring River Ambulance service responded to a crash that occurred between a vehicle and a motorcycle at the intersection of Highway 63 and the driveway to the Spring River Lodge Hotel in Hardy.
A young man identified as 18-year-old Landon Russell Hunt of Paragould Arkansas was treated for serious injuries at the scene after his 2022 green Kawasaki KX 252 dirtbike collided with a 2012 Ford Focus
Mr. Landon Hunt was transported by air to regional one medical trauma center in Memphis, Tennessee, where he was, unfortunately later pronounce deceased.
The driver of the Ford Focus, 55 year old Michelle Monroe and passenger 59 year old Ronald Bethea both of Collierville, TN were not injured.
A pliminary investigation indicates that Mr. Hunt was traveling south on Highway 63 on the Kawasaki dirtbike along with a juvenile friend on a four wheeler and Michelle monroe was traveling north on Highway 63 attempting to make a left turn into the Spring River Lodge hotel. Monroe was unable to see the motorcycle coming as there were no headlights present.
At this time the crash is still under investigation.
