During the month of January, Detectives with the Stone County Sheriff’s Office received information that Jim Wayne Dayberry was distributing large quantities of Methamphetamine throughout Stone County. After receiving the information, Detectives with the Stone County Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation on Dayberry and his alleged drug sales. After months of undercover investigation, a Search Warrant was acquired for a residence located at the 600 block of Webb Street in Mountain View.

On Friday, June 30th, 2023, at approximately 6:00 PM the Stone County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the Mountain View Police Department, executed the Search Warrant at the residence. Upon execution, approximately 75 Grams of Crystal Methamphetamine with an approximate street value of $4,500.00 was seized from the residence. Jim Wayne Dayberry (37, of Mountain View), James Earl Jones (55, of Mountain View), Taylar Smith (38, of Mountain View), and Ronnie Dale Dayberry (49, of Mountain View) was arrested and transported to the Stone County Jail.

Jim Wayne Dayberry’s charges include:

  • POSSESSION OF SCHEDULE II CONTROLELD SUBSTANCE METHAMPHETAMINE WITH THE PURPOSE TO DELIVER TEN GRAMS OR MORE BUT LESS THAN TWO HUNDRED GRAMS, A CLASS “A” FELONY
  • UNLAWFUL USE OF A COMMUNICATION DEVICE, A CLASS “C” FELONY
  • POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, A CLASS “B” FELONY
  • HABITUAL OFFENDER HAVING BEEN CONVICTED OF FOUR (4) OR MORE FELONIES

James Earl Jones charges include:

  • POSSESSION OF SCHEDULE II CONTROLELD SUBSTANCE METHAMPHETAMINE LESS THAN TWO GRAMS, A CLASS “D” FELONY
  • POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, A CLASS “D” FELONY
  • MAINTAINING DRUG PREMISES, A CLASS “C” FELONY
  • HABITUAL OFFENDER HAVING BEEN CONVICTED OF FOUR (4) OR MORE FELONIES

Taylar Smith’s charges include:

  • POSSESSION OF SCHEDULE II CONTROLELD SUBSTANCE METHAMPHETAMINE LESS THAN TWO GRAMS, A CLASS “D” FELONY
  • POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, A CLASS “D” FELONY

Ronnie Dale Dayberry:

  • CURRENTLY BEING HELD ON A PROBATION/PAROLE HOLD PENDING FURTHER INVESTIGATION While Methamphetamine continues to plague our community, the Stone County Sheriff’s Office will be dedicated to the ongoing fight against Methamphetamine and making our community a safer place to live.
