Cathy Lee Mitchell, 66, of Paragould, passed from this life on Thursday, June 22, 2023. She was born in Paragould on May 25, 1957, to Shirley Walker and the late Norris Weddington. Cathy graduated from Paragould High School in 1975. She worked in several occupations including Emerson Electric and manager of Sears. Cathy was a baker, and she made cakes for numerous weddings. Her children ate more than their share of cake scraps and icing over the years. Cathy was a member of Imboden United Methodist Church where she played the organ every Sunday. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and canning vegetables. Her family was her life, and she loved supporting them and spending time with them. She was planning a trip to watch her son compete in a professional axe throwing competition. She was also planning a trip to New Orleans with her best friend, Regina Mexal-Thomas, in the fall. Cathy adored her grandchildren, and her cats were not far behind. God gave her a big heart, and she filled it with love for all those around her. Cathy was preceded in death by her father, Norris Weddington; dad, Ransom Walker; brother, Brad Walker; maternal grandparents, Claude and Edith Younger; and paternal grandparents, Woodrow and Imogene Weddington..

Cathy is survived by her husband, Jim Mitchell of Paragould; mother, Shirley Walker of Paragould; children, Casey (Lesley) Faulkner of Jonesboro, Jessica (Michael) Sims of Paragould, Shane (Rachel) Mitchell of Oak Grove, and Josh (Hannah) Mitchell of Paragould; grandchildren, Elijah Faulkner, Kaylee Payne, Hayden Payne, Taylor (Josh) Bailey, Tyler (Carmen) Sims, Zack Mitchell, Austin Mitchell, Madison Mitchell, Rylee Mitchell, Brynlee Mitchell, and Jaxson Mitchell; great grandchildren, Cyrus Bailey, Cayden Sims, Rylee Bailey, Delliah Sims, Josie Bailey, and two on the way; sisters, Connie (Benjamin) Pitcher and Tena Walker; half brother, David Weddington; half sister, Sandee (Mark) Daniels; and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.

The family will receive friends Monday, June 26, 2023, from 11 AM-1 PM at Heath Funeral Home. The funeral begins at 1 PM with Bro. Michael Dodson and Bro. Bob McMillon officiating. Burial is in Greene County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Nathan Greer, Jacob Smalling, Brandon Wells, Brandon Russom, Daniel Cox, and Tyler Sims.
