One northeast Arkansas family is faced with more questions and very few answers after the unexpected death of a family member at the Lawrence County Detention Center earlier this week.

Details are scarce because not much information has been released to the family and no release has been made to the public at the time of this article.

According to family members, Jamie Thomas was arrested after a traffic stop in Black Rock on April 18th.

Agencies involved were the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, Black Rock Police and Arkansas State Police.

Mr. Thomas was arrested and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center for booking. During the booking process, Mr. Thomas suffered from some type of medical emergency.

Mr. Thomas stopped breathing, CPR was started by jail personnel and an ambulance was requested to the jail. Walnut Ridge Fire was called to assist with the incident. Thomas was transported to a local hospital where he was declared deceased.

Since then the family has been notified of his death but not much more according to them.

Mr. Thomas’s body was sent to the crime lab in Little Rock and investigators from the Arkansas State Police were called in later on the 18th.
