On Monday, January 30th, 2023 at approximately 5:00 PM, Stone County Deputies, Arkansas State Police, and Arkansas Game and Fish Officers responded to a report of an individual being shot in the 900 block of Jensen Road. Upon arrival Officers learned that a male subject was barricaded inside of the residence making threats against law enforcement. Negotiations then began and after a length of time, suspect Fred Michael Mixon, 50 of Mountain View, was taken into custody without incident. A Search Warrant was then executed, and the body of a deceased female was located inside. Detectives with the Stone County Sheriff’s Office are currently still on scene working the investigation and the specific circumstances involving the shooting.
By all indications this is an isolated incident and we do not believe the public to be in any danger. Further details will be released as the investigation continues. The name of the victim or further information is not being released at this time. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
