According to Hardy Police Chief Scott Rose, fugitive Josh Hoover was captured at Riverbend Park at 12 p.m., Monday, June 20th.

On Sunday, June 19th at 10:20 a.m., Hoover was reported to have approached a female victim at the Riverbend Park at gunpoint, and after committing sexual crimes against the victim he forced her into her own vehicle and left the park.

The two then traveled to a gas station in Highland, where the victim was able to escape the vehicle and locked herself into a bathroom.

Deputies began a pursuit with Hoover after they spotted him near the Spring River, the officers pursued the suspect along 63 north of Hardy until they were unable to keep up due to heavy traffic.

The vehicle was later found wrecked by authorities as they continued to search for Hoover in the area.
