At 1:07 pm Walnut Ridge Fire Department was paged to a structure fire at 201 SE Front Street. Crews arrived within minutes to find heavy smoke showing from the multi level structure. Mutual aid from the Hoxie Fire Department was requested first followed by requests to Sedgwick, Portia, and Pocahontas Fire Departments.
The large home was said to be a multi family structure. Firefighters were at the scene until after 7 pm. No injuries were reported but the home was said to be a total loss. No word on the cause of the fire.
