At 5:47 pm on Wednesday the Lawrence County Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting an overturned vehicle near the Jesup intersection with an occupant still inside and the vehicle on fire.

Smithville and Strawberry Volunteer Fire Departments along with AET Ambulance were dispatched to the scene. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies and Arkansas State Police were also requested to the accident. Witnesses attempted to free the trapped victim but according to Smithville Fire Fighters the vehicle was completely engulfed upon the fire departments arrival at 5:54 pm.

Fire departments were able to extinguish the vehicle, reported to be a midsized passenger car but at least one person was unable to escape the vehicle.
A medical helicopter was requested during the incident, AET was on scene until 6:57 pm. Firefighters assisted with traffic as the Arkansas State Police began it’s investigation into the accident.

No other injuries were reported in the accident, the name of the victim has not been released pending the conclusion of the Arkansas State Police investigation into the accident.

Dail’s Wrecker Service of Ravenden was requested to the scene to remove the wreckage.
