At 4:37 pm the Lawrence County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a capsized boat on the Spring River, one person had swam to safety but a second victim was unaccounted for. Imboden Volunteer Fire Department along with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Dive Team were requested to the scene.

Once on scene the missing victim was discovered on the Randolph County side of the Spring River, Firefighters and members of the LCSO Dive Team recovered the second victim who was uninjured and returned him to the boat ramp.

Two boats then returned to find the victim’s boat overturned in the water north of the Spring River Bridge at Imboden. Firefighters, LCSO Dive Team Members and Arkansas Game and Fish turned to boat over and towed the boat back to the boat ramp.

The boaters were fishing when they got hung up on a root wad and the current overturned the boat sending one victim under the boat. The two fishermen lost sight of each other, one walked to a local business in Imboden and reported the accident.

Arkansas Game And Fish, Imboden Volunteer Fire Department, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Dive Team and AET Ambulance all took part in the rescue and recovery. The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Dive Team would also like to express a thank you to Chad Orrick for his assistance in today’s operation.
