At 7:17 am the Lawrence County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a helicopter crash near Penn Farms on Lawrence 504. Portia Fire, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office and Lawrence County Office of Emergency Services along with a medical unit were all notified.
Reports from the scene indicated that the helicopter made contact with a supply truck on the ground causing the helicopter to crash and heavy damage to the truck. According to reports the pilot was uninjured but a worker on the ground was injured.
A medical helicopter was requested to the scene and the injured was flown to a Memphis hospital with serious injuries. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies and Investigators were on scene until 8:11 am. The Federal Aviation Authority and Arkansas Department Of Emergency Management were also notified of the incident.
