At 11:51 am on Friday the Lawrence County Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting a female on Lawrence 288 with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies, Strawberry Fire Department and AET Ambulance of Imboden were all dispatched to the scene.
Once in route to the scene, a medical helicopter from Survival Flight was requested by medics. The Smithville Volunteer Fire Department was also requested to the area to set up a landing zone for the helicopter. Detectives from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office were also dispatched to the scene.
Once on scene, medics determined that the victim had died from her injuries, the medical helicopter was cancelled and the coroner was called to the scene. The victims name has not been released by the Lawrence County Criminal Investigation Division, the investigation is still ongoing.
