According to Sgt. Jamie White of the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, the department is investigating a break-in at the Citgo in Portia resulting in the theft of approximately $10,000 in cash and merchandise. According to the Sheriff’s Office the theft took place on January 4th 2015, the suspects gained entry through the front entrance with no signs of forced entry.
Initial reports were taken by patrol deputies, the case was then turned over to C.I.D. who then developed several persons of interest. Two arrest were made as a result of the investigation with more arrests expected in the case. The names of those arrested are not being released at this time pending further investigation.
