On October 13th, Lawrence County Deputies made a routine traffic stop on Hwy 115 just south of the Hwy 117 intersection for a vehicle with only one headlight working. During the stop, the driver of the vehicle threw a baggie containing Meth on the ground attempting to conceal it. The officer ask the driver identified as Randy Mitchell of Williford if there was anything else illegal in the car, the driver said no. Consent to search the car was given and the officer began to search the vehicle and suspect. Mitchell was placed in custody and the officer found a set of brass knuckles on his person.

As the officer began to search the vehicle he discovered a backpack containing a small box. When the box was opened the officer discovered several items of drug paraphernalia and a bag of marijuana. The officer also discovered a large amount of cash and a set of scales as well, once a complete inventory of the vehicle was complete, the vehicle was towed from the scene.

Randy Mitchell was charged with Felony Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Meth and Possession of Marijuana. Mitchell was arrested and transported to the Lawrence County Jail to await a bond hearing.
