Inmates from the Lawrence County Jail continue to service the county. Last April Sheriff Dotson released photos and information concerning inmates on Hwy 412 cleaning trash from the roadside. The program is still in place and still helping assist the county and giving inmates the ability to get outside and give something back.

In the past, the Sheriff has used labor from the inmates to assist in the clean up at Lake Charles State Park after storm damage left trails covered with downed trees and limbs. Service Projects in Lawrence County have also included inmates helping prepare the Lawrence County Rodeo Arena before the Lawrence County Fair, preparing the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Substation in Imboden and projects underway in Hoxie as well.

Sheriff Dotson stated the project helps in two ways, it saves the county thousands in labor cost and helps inmates get out of jail in less time.
