Officers from the Hoxie Police Department and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office converged on the Old Hickory Motel after Captain Will Isreal of the Hoxie Police Department received a tip concerning a subject returning from Jonesboro possibly with drugs. The suspect in question also had outstanding warrants out of Lawrence County.
Lawrence County Deputy Liscomb, Hoxie Officer Blackwood and Capt. Isreal waited at the motel until the suspect arrived in a silver pickup truck, the suspect was arrested after getting out of the passenger side of the vehicle. Once under arrest for the outstanding warrants, the suspect removed 32.5 grams of marijuana and .5 grams of crack cocaine from a coat pocket and handed it to officers.
The suspect was transported to the Lawrence County Jail to await formal charges. The name of the suspect is being withheld awaiting release by Sheriff Dotson of the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office.
