Shortly after 6pm on Friday, a routine traffic stop on Lawrence County Road 298 has led to the arrest of two men and one child being placed in the custody of DHS. Officer Blake Liscomb of the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office pulled over a Ford Ranger after the license plate did not return to the vehicle and the officer noticed a child was not properly restrained in the vehicle.

Once the vehicle was stopped, Officer Liscomb noticed the occupants were acting nervous, then the officer noticed a tube sticking out from under the seat. Once this was observed, Officer Liscomb requested assistance from the Black Rock Police Department, who quickly responded along with Deputy Shawn Johnson who was also in the area. Officers safely removed the child and the two adult occupants as well as obtained consent to search the vehicle.

When officers searched the vehicle, a complete “Meth Lab” was discovered under the seat of the truck. Officers arrested both adult male subjects and called for DHS as well as the next duty wrecker. The vehicle was towed and with the assistance of the Black Rock Police Department, both men were transported to the Lawrence County Jail.

Formal charges and the identities of the subjects will be released by Sheriff Dotson, for more information on the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, visit their site at www.lawrencecountysheriffsoffice.com .
