At 11:30 pm Tuesday, the Lawrence County Dispatch Center received a request from Sharp County for manpower in the Calamine area and Milligan Camp Ground area. Reports from Sharp County indicated damage in the area from an earlier tornado with at least one residence completely destroyed. The damage was from the area of Hwy 230 to the Milligan Camp Ground road.

 

Lawrence County Dispatch paged Strawberry and Lynn Fire Departments to assist with manpower and chainsaws. Sharp County Sheriff’s Office was moving in it’s Mobile Command Center at the time of this article to the area of the Mt. View Church.

 

Lawrence County Deputies checked for damage in the part of the county closest to the Sharp County line. Lawrence County Sheriff Deputies were called to assist Sharp County at the request of the Sharp County Sheriff.

 

Strawberry Fire Department was on scene at 11:45 pm and Lynn was on scene at 12:15 am. At 12:30 am the Sharp County Sheriff’s Office had their Mobile Command Center in place.

 

Firemen and Sheriff’s Deputies were assisting with damage reports, searching for possible victims as well as helping to clear roadways of debris.
