Shortly before noon on Friday the Lawrence County Dispatch Center received a 911 call stating that a 15 year old female had been injuried in a sledding accident on Hwy 117 just out of Smithville.
Dispatch notified the Smithville Volunteer Fire Department and AET Ambulance of Imboden. The female had been riding a sled being pulled by a vehicle when the sled hit another vehicle according to witnesses. A second minor was also riding the sled but was not injuried.
The status of the injured female is not known at this time but she was flown from the scene to St. Benards Hospital in Jonesboro. The Smithville Fire Department was assisted with the landing zone by deputies from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office and the Arkansas State Police.
