Brittany Cox, age 32 of Hoxie, was arrested after she allegedly stole a Chevrolet Camaro from Baptist Memorial Hospital and was later involved in a hit-and-run accident in Paragould.
Cox was arrested on Theft Of Property-Motor Vehicle and Failure To Stop After Accident w/Property Damage.
Law enforcement was dispatched on May 2nd to Baptist Memorial Hospital on Kingshighway, in reference to an uncooperative patient who was being discharged.
Officers made contact with Cox, who reportedly stated she was not leaving. Court documents say officers escorted Cox off the property and she was told not to return.
Approximately 30 minutes later, a Chevrolet Camaro was involved in a hit-and-run crash near West Mueller Street and Linwood Drive.
Witnesses reported the Camaro ran a red light, struck another vehicle and fled the scene. The driver was described as a younger white female with blonde hair and a pink hat, and said the vehicle would have damage to the driver’s side rear.
Later that day, an employee at Baptist Memorial Hospital reported their vehicle, a blue Chevrolet Camaro had been stolen.
Authorities reviewed the surveillance footage, it showed Cox stealing the vehicle about 20 minutes after she had been ordered to leave the hospital.
The description of the stolen vehicle was sent to the Hoxie Police Department. Hoxie PD intercepted the vehicle as it was being driven in Hoxie.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, identified as Brittany Cox was stopped by HPD, the vehicle had noticeable fresh damage to the driver’s side rear of the car, it was also noted that she was still wearing the pink hat as described by witnesses.
Cox was arrested and transported back to the Paragould Police Department.
Cox is currently incarcerated in the Greene County Detention Center on $35,000 bond.
