Independence County Sheriff’s Department reportedly received a complaint through Crimes Against Children alleging child sexual abuse, on Wednesday. The filing stated the victim was under 10 years old while the suspect was stated to be 60 years old.
The reporting party was told by a juveline of sexual abuse by the suspect identified as Lonnie Keith Cavaness age 60, of Pleasant Plains
Authorities were also told that the juvenile told the individual the identity of the sexual abuser and claimed a younger juvenile was spanked with a belt, allegedly leaving marks on the second juvenile.
The suspect was brought to the sheriff’s department on Wednesday where authorities stated during an interview, the suspect admitted to the rape and battery.
He was arrested and charged with five counts of rape, a Class Y felony and also charged with one count of second-degree battery.
Cavaness is currently in the Independence County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
