Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office Arrest A Man For Stealing A Car From A Residence On Hwy 228
On June 23, 2011 the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Dept. arrested Mitchell Allen Nicholas (07/20/78) of Alicia for theft of property and criminal trespass. The arrest stems from an incident on June 16 when a farmer called in about a truck and trailer stealing a car from a residence on Highway 228. Deputies went looking for the vehicle in the area and the farmer was able to get a tag number and good description of the truck. The tag came back to Nicholas. Deputies later found the car and the trailer abandoned on County Road 725 behind a fence row but was unable to locate Nicholas at the time. Nicholas was arrested in Jackson County a few days later on a misdemeanor warrant. Jackson County notified Lawrence County of Nicholas being arrested there. Investigators from Lawrence County went to Jackson County to interview Nicholas. Nicholas was advised of his Miranda rights and confessed to the investigators that he had taken the car. The owner valued the car at $1500. Nicholas is now in the Lawrence County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
