After devoting his life to serving the citizens of Arkansas, Retired Sr. Corporal, Jimmy Dale Danley, 68, of Powhatan, Arkansas entered into his eternal home on April 17, 2026. He was born in 1957 to James and Emma Dell (Cooper) Danley in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He spent his childhood in Greene County and attended school at the Oak Grove School District until graduating in 1976. Following his high school graduation, Jimmy attended Arkansas State University, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology.

He worked as a deputy for the Greene County Sheriff’s Office while putting himself through college. After graduation, he worked as a patrolman for the Paragould Police Department. In December of 1984, Jimmy answered the call to service and fulfilled his life-long dream of becoming an Arkansas State Trooper. He and Kim, his bride of 8 months, were stationed in Lafayette County and lived in Stamps, Arkansas. His first official day of duty was Christmas Eve 1984. Jimmy then transferred back to Northeast Arkansas in 1987, to Lawrence County, where he became B30 with Troop B Newport. In January 1988, the couple welcomed their son, James Cordell.

Throughout a distinguished career spanning 39 years as highway patrol, Sr. Corporal Danley was known for his professionalism, dedication, and integrity. As a friend wrote, “He served with honor, with grit, and with a quiet strength that never needed attention”. Life beyond his badge, Jimmy was a man who cared deeply about his family, friends, and his four-legged fur babies.

Jimmy gave his heart to the Lord when he was 9 years old and tried to live like Jesus. He enjoyed going to flea markets, collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia, old coins and tinkering with old vehicles, especially his 57 Chevy. However, the greatest joy he found here on earth was spending time with his son and grandsons.

Jimmy is survived by his son, Cord (Samantha) Danley; grandsons, Avery, Omari, AJ and Cooper; and his “wife”, Kim Horrell Danley, all of the home. He is also survived by his sister, Angela (Stan) Smith; sisters-in-law Kelli Harris and Kristi Wiggins; brothers-in-law Jerry Jernigan and Scott Horrell; nephews and nieces, Amy Horn, Jerrod Jernigan, Landon Smith, MacKenzie Coates, Kendra Yeager, Brad Horrell, Ethan Pugh, Caroline Heuel, Molli Snell, and Eli Wiggins; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, colleagues, and friends he considered like family. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and grandson, Jackson Cooper Danley.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 2nd at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel (Paragould, AR) beginning at 2:00pm and ending with full Arkansas State Police (ASP) Honors
