On November 26, 2025 at 12:58am the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a call for service to the area of Highway 18 near the intersection of Highway 367. The caller advised a toddler was seen crossing Highway 18 running into a field.
Units from the Newport Police Department, Diaz Police Department,Arkansas State Police, and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene in the attempt to locate the juvenile.
After an extensive search, a Jackson County Deputy located the juvenile in a wood line at 1:28am. The juvenile was approximately half a mile from the last known location.
It was determined the juvenile left a residence in the City of Newport. The Newport Police Department has an ongoing investigation into this matter.
The juvenile was transported by EMS to a local hospital for evaluation.
