Acclaimed pianist Dr. Mary Chung will be in concert at Williams Baptist University on Monday, Nov. 17.  The performance will begin at 7:00 p.m. in WBU’s Manley Chapel.

After she began playing piano in South Korea, Dr. Chung went on to study and graduate from the National Conservatory of Music in the Dominican Republic. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from North Greenville University, as well as a Master of Music and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Southern Mississippi. 

Chung is an active soloist and collaborative artist who has performed in Canada, France, Italy, Germany, Brazil, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Costa Rica, and Honduras. Her solo awards include first place in the 11th Luis A. Ferré International Piano Competition (Puerto Rico), winner of the William T. Gower Concerto Competition, finalist in the Concerto Competition at the Brevard Music Festival, alternate winner in Mississippi’s MTNA Young Artist Auditions, and the Music Teachers National Association’s Student Achievement Recognition Award. 

She is currently on the faculty at Ouachita Baptist University, where she serves as coordinator of the piano department.

Her performance at Williams will include works by Mozart and Chopin.  She is also an experienced accompanist for opera, and she will collaborate on two operatic arias and two spiritual songs with Dr. Trent Broussard. Dr. Broussard, chair of the Department of Fine Arts at WBU, is an accomplished opera baritone.

Admission to the concert is free, and the public is invited to attend.
