Authorities report a school bus driver for the Lawrence County School District was cited after an incident that was reported on Wednesday April 18th.

The investigation began after a parent reported his child was injured on the ride home to the Walnut Ridge Police Department.

The incident reports, the child’s father advised a School Resource Officer on Wednesday, April 18, that his son was hurt on a bus driven by Melissa Milton.

The father told the WRPD SRO that on the way home from school, his son stood up on the bus and asked Milton a question.

Milton then allegedly hit the brakes on the bus, throwing his son to the floor, causing injury to his leg, face, and neck.

The father stayed there was no vehicles or other reason for the sudden stop, other than causing the child to fall

A report was taken, the child was taken to a local hospital where it was discovered he had an injury to the vertebrae in his neck.

Milton was cited by WRPD for endangering the welfare of a minor and reported to the Arkansas Child Abuse Hotline.
