From the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office:
SCAM ALERT We have received a report today that someone is placing telephone calls to area citizens claiming to be a specific deputy, by name, with the Sheriff’s Office and leaving people voice mails asking them to return the call.  The scammer leaves a call-back number that is not a phone number associated with the Sheriff’s Office or any deputy or employee here.

Any calls of this nature should be treated as suspicious and a potential scam. If you receive a call of this kind, it is advised that you immediately call the Sheriff’s Office published number, 870-425-7000, to verify the validity of the call you received before you return a call to any other phone number that might have been left. We do not want you to become a victim to some kind of financial loss because of fraudulent activity by a scammer.
