Testimony given by Dexter Payne, Arkansas Department Of Corrections stated that ADC has already released some 300 inmates and expects more to be released.
The testimony comes after 11 inmates filed suit against ADC’s handling of the COVID-19 outbreak.
The release came after the April 20th directive by Governor Hutchinson to consider early release of non-violent offenders.
During his testimony Payne said inmates considered for early release must be medically screened and cleared before release into the public.
The federal case filed by the inmates is still ongoing.
