At 6:45 pm on Saturday, the Lawrence County Dispatch received a report of a domestic in progress in Saffell on Lawrence 342. As deputies were dispatched to the scene, the victims reported that a male subject at the residence had assaulted his wife, daughter and mother-in-law. All of the victims fled the house and called 911 as they hid behind a tree in the area. Officers from the Black Rock Police Department also responded to assist Lawrence County.
The suspect, who was still in the house reportedly had a shotgun, shortly after the call was received, the victims stated they heard a shot inside the house. Before deputies could arrive on scene, the suspect exited the house without a weapon but was allegedly holding a pill bottle. Deputies requested an ambulance respond to the area, AET Ambulance of Imboden responded and staged at a safe distance. As deputies arrived on scene, the first order was to safely remove the victims from the area before dealing with the suspect.
As deputies arrived the suspect reentered the home, but then came back outside. The suspect was taken into custody by Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies at 7:14 pm without further incident and transported to the Lawrence County Jail. Medical personnel from AET Ambulance checked the victims for injuries, no one was transport by ambulance to the hospital. Deputies recovered several weapons from the residence.
