Shortly after noon Monday, the Imboden Volunteer Fire Department responded to a field fire on Lawrence County Road 131-South. Imboden arrived with it’s Rescue 4 brush Truck and it’s Rescue 3 unit.
Several firefighters contained fire around the residence but with the wind, the fire behind was traveling away and getting larger.
Imboden requested the assistance of the Smithville Volunteer Fire Department and the Arkansas Forestry. Smithville was on scene in a matter of minutes. A structure described as a cabin located in the rear of the fields was a total loss, fire reached the cabin very quickly with the windy conditions. During the battle, Imboden requested firemen bring Engine 6 from Imboden to refill the trucks with water. Imboden was clear around 1:30pm but the Arkansas Forestry was still on scene.
During the mid-day Fire Departments in Sedgewick, Walnut Ridge, Lynn and Saffel were all out responding brush/wild fires. Fire officials caution burning during the windy conditions predicted for the area.
